With approximately 24 million viewers, Fox’s first prime-time Republican presidential debate became the most-watched cable news program ever. In fact, it is now the highest non-sports cable program of all time! While many thought Donald Trump was the winner of the debate, the real winner was Fox News.
Below is a list of ten memorable quotes culled from both the prime-time, and kid’s table, debates.
Huckabee: “It’s time that we … protect children instead of rip up their body parts and sell them like they’re parts of a Buick.”
Trump: “If I’m the nominee, I will pledge I will not run as an independent.”
Graham: “If we don’t stop them over there, they are coming here, as sure as I stand here in front of you.”
Walker: “It’s only by the blood of Jesus Christ that I’ve been redeemed from my sins.”
Christie: “If you think it’s bad now, you should have seen it when I got there.”
Rubio: “If this election is a resume competition, then Hillary is going to be the next president.”
Jindal: “Give Bernie Sanders credit. At least he’s honest enough to call himself a socialist.”
Bush: “They called me Veto Corleone … because I vetoed 2500 separate line-items in the budget.”
Cruz: “Chris I believe the American people are looking for a nominee to speak the truth.”
Carson: “I’m the only one to separate Siamese twins.”
The next Republican presidential debate will air on September 16, hosted by CNN. Will Donald Trump still be leading the pack? Will he even be a candidate by then? If Trump is still in it, should be another night of entertainment.
