If Trump’s Latest “Foreign Collusion Is OK” Remarks Don’t Tip The Scales Towards Impeachment, Nothing Will

June 13, 2019 By John DeProspo 2 Comments

Donald Trump is either begging to be impeached or is totally clueless about what constitutes a crime (or, more likely, just doesn’t give a damn).

In broad daylight, for the entire world to hear, Donald Trump stated if offered dirt by a foreign power on a political opponent, he would take it.

In an ABC News interview, Trump told George Stephanopoulos he wouldn’t necessarily call the FBI if approached by foreign entities with information on his 2020 opponent: “It’s not an interference. They have information. I think I’d take it.”

To Donald Trump’s way of thinking, it’s just good old-fashioned oppo (opposition) research, right?

Coming as a complete shock to both Democrats and Republicans, the man currently occupying the Oval Office is actually inviting foreign powers to help him win in 2020 … again!

But isn’t this par for the course?

Remember when candidate Trump made a direct appeal to Russia to hack Hillary Clinton’s emails and make them public?

“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” said Trump, referring to emails Clinton had deleted from the private account she had used when she was secretary of state. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

If Trump’s latest statements on accepting foreign interference in our elections don’t tip the scales in favor of starting impeachment proceedings, I don’t know what will.

Unlike Richard Nixon, who did his lawbreaking in private, Trump chooses to commit his crimes on national TV!

But then again, why not? He did promise to be “the most transparent” president ever.

I’ll give him credit for keeping at least one campaign promise!  But seriously, Madam Speaker, you are turning the House, and its constitutional duty to impeach a lawless president, into a joke. Political calculations be damned!

I know. We’ve become so inured to Trump’s lawlessness that we just add the latest wrongdoing to the ever growing “Trump bulls*it mountain.”  But this latest disregard for the sanctity of our elections is a bridge too far.

How long does the list of “high crimes and misdemeanors” have to get before you, as Speaker of the House,  say “enough is enough” to this brazen criminal occupying “The People’s House?”

It is way past time to do your job.

Trump Miffed … Mueller Still Getting Paycheck

January 21, 2018 By John DeProspo Leave a Comment

Donald Trump finally got the government shutdown he wanted. But to his shock and dismay, this does not put the Mueller investigation on ice.

The Justice Department has confirmed that employees in Mueller’s office are exempt from the shutdown and can continue investigating any possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. His office is not funded through the regular congressional appropriations process.

So, the probe Trump continues to call a “witch-hunt” and a “hoax” lives on even as other government functions come to an end.

“There is something very wrong with our government if I can shut it down and people still keep getting paid … they still go on with their work,” Trump told a group of reporters.

Anonymous White House sources have confirmed that Trump believed a government shutdown would end Mueller’s investigation without him having to fire the FBI special prosecutor.

“I am going to get to the bottom of this,” Trump added. “How is this possible? No doubt Crooked Hillary is involved with this.”

Perhaps someone on Trump’s staff might school him on how special counsel investigations are funded.

Trump would learn that special counsel investigations are funded by a separate “permanent indefinite appropriation” established by the Department of Justice Appropriation Act of 1988 to pay for “investigations and prosecutions by independent counsels.” In other words, Congress has already passed the appropriations bill that funds this probe, so no one’s salary is stuck in the Treasury—there is nothing preventing Mueller’s team from going to work and getting paid.

Shorting after hearing the bad news, Trump did what he does best … went golfing.

Trump – “I’m The Least Collusiony Person You’ve Ever Met, Believe Me”

January 18, 2018 By John DeProspo Leave a Comment

FBI special prosecutor, Robert Mueller, wants to speak with Donald Trump … and the president is ready to comply.

Even though Trump has labeled Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion between his campaign and Russia a “witch hunt” and a “hoax”, Ty Cobb, Trump’s lawyer, says his client is “very eager” to speak with Mueller.

“I’ve got nothing to hide so why shouldn’t I talk with the guy?” asked Trump. “I’m the least collusiony president in history.”

“I think it’s more than appropriate for the Mueller people to explore anything they’re interested in,” Cobb said, claiming he is focused on “getting the facts out.”

But there appears to be a slight hitch.

As has been the case throughout the ongoing FBI investigation, Trump and his legal team do not seem to be on the same page.

After Cobb’s announcement, Trump tweeted, “ I am more than happy to discuss anything that happened before June 16, 2015.”

Trump’s cutoff date coincides with the day he formally announced his presidential campaign at Trump Tower in New York City.

America Under Siege From Within … Coo Coo Coo Coup!

December 18, 2017 By John DeProspo 4 Comments

Fox News, our very own state propaganda machine, finally went there.

They used the “c” word.

In an effort to delegitimize the ongoing investigation into the Kremlin’s meddling in our 2016 election, and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, Fox News has accused the FBI and special counsel Robert Mueller of a “coup” attempt against the Trump administration.

Here is part of Fox News’ Jesse Watters recent rant, filled with misleading statements, about the alleged coup d’état:

“So the investigation into Donald Trump’s campaign has been crooked from the jump,” Watters said. “But the scary part is we may now have proof the investigation was weaponized to destroy his presidency for partisan political purposes and to disenfranchise millions of American voters. Now, if that’s true, we have a coup on our hands in America.”

It’s possible that Jessie and his friends at Fox do not know the meaning of “coup” (a sudden decisive exercise of force in politics; especially : the violent overthrow or alteration of an existing government by a small group). Or they are purposely stirring up their base of brainwashed blockheads in anticipation of some very bad news about to come down the pike.

Either way, this sort of language is not only irresponsible, it is downright dangerous.

There, no doubt, are many gun-toting Fox viewers who could take this incendiary talk to heart and see it as a call to action.

Since morphing into Trump TV, Fox News is doing it’s very best to paint Trump as a victim, not as a president who may be guilty of obstructing justice … or treason.

It appears Fox has given up on calling the Mueller investigation a “hoax”; a “witchhunt”; a “fraud.” Now it’s a “coup.”

Rest assured, no matter what Trump’s propaganda outlet calls it, or what Trump may try to do (shut down the investigation), the truth will eventually come out.

But the potential for violence only increases with what Fox News is spewing on a daily basis.

Mueller Probe … What If It All Doesn’t Matter?

November 3, 2017 By John DeProspo 2 Comments

For the majority of Americans, the only thing that can bring an end to our national nightmare (otherwise known as the Trump regime) is Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into the Trump-Russia connection. Many defenders of our rule of law were overjoyed when, earlier this week, it was learned that three former Trump campaign officials have been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges stemming from Mueller’s investigation.

As welcome as this news was to believers in our constitutional system of government, David Roberts’ piece in yesterday’s Vox.com cast a pall over those good feelings. Roberts asks:

What if Mueller proves his case and it doesn’t matter?

“Say Mueller reveals hard proof that the Trump campaign knowingly colluded with Russia, strategically using leaked emails to hurt Clinton’s campaign. Say the president — backed by the Wall Street Journal editorial page, Fox News, Breitbart, most of the US Cabinet, half the panelists on CNN, most of the radio talk show hosts in the country, and an enormous network of Russian-paid hackers and volunteer shitposters working through social media — rejects the evidence.

They might say Mueller is compromised. It’s a Hillary/Deep State plot. There’s nothing wrong with colluding with Russia in this particular way. Dems did it first. All of the above. Whatever.”

Farfetched? Not really.

As scary as the scenario Roberts paints might be, it is certainly plausible … and the article is worth the read. Here is a link to the piece… “America is facing an epistemic crisis.”

It appears the only sure way we Americans can rid ourselves of Trump and his band of traitors is for Democrats to take back the House and Senate in 2018.

But whether fair elections can ever be held in our country now that Republicans have all but acquiesced to a foreign power meddling in our electoral system (and their own efforts in suppressing the vote) is another question all together.
