Tucker Carlson Leaves Fox For Higher Calling

April 24, 2023 By John DeProspo 2 Comments

Reprint from moronmajority.com

After years of being a prominent figure in the conservative media world, Tucker Carlson has made the shocking announcement that he will be leaving Fox News to pursue a new calling: the ministry.

Sources close to Carlson suggest that he is deeply troubled by the role he played in spreading fear, lies, conspiracy theories and disinformation during his time on television. He believes that he has a responsibility to atone for his sins and to help undo the harm he’s caused.

“He’s been struggling with this for a while,” said a source who spoke on condition of anonymity. “He’s been talking to pastors and other religious leaders, trying to find a way to make things right.”

According to those same sources, Carlson’s decision to leave Fox News was motivated by his fear of going to hell.

“He’s always been a deeply religious person,” the source said. “But he’s been feeling more and more guilty about what he’s done. He’s worried that he’s going to spend eternity paying for the division he’s caused in our country.”

While some may be skeptical of Carlson’s sudden conversion, those who know him best say that he is sincere in his desire to repent and make amends.

“He’s a man of conviction,” said one friend. “He’s always been passionate about what he believes, and now he’s applying that passion to his faith.”

As for Fox News, the network is reportedly in a state of shock over Carlson’s sudden departure. After all, “Tucker Carlson Tonight” was the highest-rated cable news show for years. Fox has already started conducting a nationwide search to find a new host who is willing to take on the responsibility of spreading hate and lies to the American public.

“Whoever replaces Tucker is going to have some big shoes to fill,” said one Fox executive. “We need someone who can lie with conviction and fear-monger with the best of them.”

A replacement, however, might not be so difficult for Fox News to find. There are plenty of unscrupulous “newsmen” out there who have no fear of eternal damnation and would gladly sell their souls for some mega bucks.

As for Friar Tucker, our thoughts and prayers are with you, man!

Trump Isn’t Running Against Biden … He’s Running Against Himself

June 25, 2020 By John DeProspo 2 Comments

Donald Trump’s reelection chances are looking flimsier by the day.

The latest nationwide New York Times/Siena College poll has Biden ahead by 14 points. What’s even worse, the same polling has Trump losing to Biden in many of the crucial swing states … 47%-36% in Michigan, 49%-38% in Wisconsin, 50%-40% in Pennsylvania, 47%-41% in Florida, 48%-41% in Arizona and 49%-40% in North Carolina.

So, Joe Biden is a great candidate, a great campaigner, right?

No, not really. He is pretty much keeping a low profile these days, allowing Trump’s self-destructiveness to keep propelling him forward. And, most likely, Biden will stick to that strategy for a while longer. What’s the saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?”

As Janet Hook and Evan Halper recently wrote in the LA Times, “Voters are not so much upbeat about him [Biden] as they are upset with Trump.”

Though Trump has tried to make the race about Biden and his faults, he has failed miserably. His campaign has already spent tens of millions on attack ads that have fizzled – tying Biden to that Trumpian concoction, “Obamagate” and, of course, to Ukraine funny business.

Finding that the right’s culture war playbook is proving less convincing against a white male target, Fox News is stepping into the breach.

As Matt Gertz writes in the National Memo, “They have started claiming that this fall’s election isn’t really about the relative merits of Trump and Biden. Instead, they have turned Biden — the septuagenarian center-left liberal who capped four decades in public service as Barack Obama’s vice president and speaks movingly about loss, grief, and the need for reconciliation on the campaign trail — into a stand-in for dark forces poised to shatter civilization.”

Here is what Fox’s Tucker Carlson said recently in one of his monologues:

“We should stop pretending that this is an election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. There is no Joe Biden; the Joe Biden you remember no longer exists. The candidate has no independent thoughts of his own. He has no core beliefs. He is empty. He’s a perfect Trojan horse.”

With his chances for November continuing to slide, like on that “slippery” West Point ramp, look for Trump to shake up his reelection team any day now. Of course, this won’t make any difference or change the dynamics of the race. Trump’s problem is Trump.

As William Galston, a Brookings Institute scholar, succinctly put it, “Right now the election is Trump versus Trump, and Trump is losing badly.”

Staring At Hard Times, Tucker Carlson May Be Forced To Sell Bow Tie Collection

June 14, 2020 By John DeProspo 3 Comments

Reprint from moronmajority.com

Things have not been going well for Tucker Carlson lately. The star of Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight is losing more advertisers by the day over his increasingly inflammatory rhetoric about Black Lives Matter protests.  Most recently, it was T-Mobile and Papa John’s Pizza that pulled the plug on his show.

The situation has gotten so bad that the Fox News celebrity is contemplating the unthinkable … selling his large collection of bow ties.

For many years, the bow tie had been Mr. Carlson’s signature look. He started wearing the cravat in 1984 when he was in tenth grade at St. George’s, a Rhode Island prep school.

When he became co-host for CNN’S Crossfire in 2001, representing the political right, Mr. Carlson was seen nightly wearing his iconic neckwear.

Mr. Carlson eventually made his way to MSNBC in 2005, where the producers advertised his show by creating posters that read, “The Man. The Legend. The Bow Tie.”

But after moving over to Fox News in 2009, Mr. Carlson decided to ditch the bow tie in favor of the more traditional necktie. Many observers speculated that the preppy appearance engendered by wearing the bow tie made him look like one of those snooty elites he rails against each night on his show.

Mr. Carlson’s collection of 450 classic, many one-of-a-kind, bow ties has been estimated to be worth $1.5 million by Christies auction house.

Coronavirus Proves Highly Resistant To Political Spin

March 15, 2020 By John DeProspo 2 Comments

Donald Trump knows only one way of handling a vexing problem … to knowingly downplay the situation and offer an alternative, biased interpretation of the “facts” in order to sway public opinion in his direction.

And so it was with the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Trump went from claiming the Democrats were making the coronavirus “their new hoax” to saying “it will go away.”

As the outbreak was worsening, Trump kept downplaying the potential for the virus to spread throughout the U.S., even suggesting without scientific evidence, that the number of cases would soon decrease.

At a news conference only 10 days ago, Trump said the number of cases “within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero. That’s a pretty good job we’ve done.”

“We’re going very substantially down, not up,” Trump added.

Of course, this couldn’t have been further from the truth. The number of confirmed infections, and deaths, only continues to increase.

As one might expect, and surveys bear out, Democrats take the gravity of this pandemic more seriously than do Republicans.

And, according to Jennifer Rubin, Republicans are doing so at their own peril.

Appearing on MSNBC’s “AM Joy”, the Washington Post conservative columnist said the daily drumbeat of misinformation coming from the White House and Fox News that has downplayed the coronavirus pandemic will likely lead to more deaths among Republicans than Democrats.

Taking aim at the Fox News propaganda machine, Rubin offered, “Here is a particular cruelty/irony that it is their core viewers, the Republican older viewers, who are the most at risk. And when you think about it, which party immediately canceled all of their rallies? Which party immediately started having their political figures really portray and use their lies as an example? It was the Democrats.”

Some may cynically wonder if this isn’t just another example of Darwin’s theory of evolution (survival of the fittest).

No matter how much Trump and his sycophants wish otherwise, the coronavirus pandemic is here; it is spreading. And like gravity, it’s a fact that can not be politically spun.

Trump Turns On Fox … Says National Enquirer Only Remaining “Non-Fake” News Source

August 28, 2019 By John DeProspo Leave a Comment

This morning, Donald Trump denounced his once favorite “news” outlet as being “hopeless and clueless.”

In a tweet announcing the breakup, Trump wrote, “We have to start looking for a new News Outlet. Fox isn’t working for us anymore!”

The news came as a complete surprise to Fox as it had no clue the relationship was on thin ice. It appears Trump has been secretly seeing other conservative news outlets behind its back.

Trump stated that about the only real news source left is the National Enquirer.

“With the National Enquirer,” said Trump, “I know Pecker always has my back.” That would be David Pecker, CEO of America Media, owner of the tabloid.

In an effort to change Trump’s mind, Fox is dispatching Sean Hannity to make nice with the moody president over a quiet, candlelit dinner.

With Even Fox News Turning On Him, Trump’s Goose May Be Cooked

December 21, 2018 By John DeProspo 2 Comments

Trump TV, otherwise known as Fox News, has, from day one, been Donald Trump’s greatest defender.

But recently, cracks have started to show in the wall Fox has built around our “so-called” president.

Yesterday Trump abruptly announced the U.S. would be withdrawing all its troops from Syria. And while both Democrats and Republicans roundly criticized the horrendous decision, you would have expected either silence or some mild support from Trump’s favorite “news” outlet.

Yet Brain Kilmeade of Fox’s “Fox and Friends” attacked Trump’s move in a segment that featured White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Kilmeade pushed back on Sanders’ defense of Trump by saying the withdrawal is “giving Russia a big win.” He went on to add, “ He said President Obama is the founder of ISIS … [Trump] just refounded ISIS, because they’ve got 30,000 men there, and they’re already striking back with our would-be evacuation. The president is really on the griddle here.”

When Sanders offered a rebuttal and argued that Trump’s decision will not help ISIS, Kilmeade countered with a conclusion even a three year old might reach … “leaving is helping.”

Earlier this month, Tucker Carlson, a man who relishes attacking Trump’s critics, called out Trump for his boastfulness and for failing to keep his promises to voters.

“I don’t think he’s capable,” Carlson said in an interview with conservative Swiss magazine Die Weltwoche. “I don’t think he’s capable of sustained focus. I don’t think he understands the system. I don’t think the Congress is on his side. I don’t think his own agencies support him.”

If ever Trump’s favorite Fox personality and frequent advisor, Sean Hannity, starts telling you the border wall is a hoax and a complete waste of taxpayer dollars, gather up all your loved ones and run for the hills.

End Times may be near.

SDSU – Home Of “The Aztecs” – Offers Course on Removing Trump

February 28, 2018 By John DeProspo Leave a Comment

In a move that has right-wing media outlets in a tizzy, San Diego State University is offering a seminar titled: “Trump: Impeachment, Removal or Conviction?” To Trump supporters, this is just one more example of academia’s bias against the president.

A story about the class first appeared on Campus Reform, a website that aims to “expose liberal bias on America’s campuses.” The article falsely states the course is “dedicated exclusively to the topic of removing Donald Trump from office.”

University officials, however, have stated the class isn’t actually focused on getting Donald Trump out of the White House.

According to the course description, the weekend-long, one credit class will focus on the “two constitutional grounds: impeachment and removal (25th Amendment), and the possible charges of the independent counsel, the powers of the president, a history of the creation of that office and the comparison of divine right and rule of law leadership, presidential impeachments, including (President Richard) Nixon’s de facto impeachment” and more.

Following is a statement provided by SDSU:

The course presents an overall framework of impeachment, removal, or criminal investigation of a president and rather than focusing on President Trump, reviews all 19 impeachments in U.S. history. The one-unit, weekend class is not a requirement for graduation and is not paid for by state funds.

Trump TV, otherwise known as Fox News, is having a field day with the story. In a segment on Fox & Friends, co-host Ainsley Earhardt, interviewed the president of the SDSU College Republicans, Brandon Jones, who offered up this view:

“I think the dangerous part of it is that they are making a very strong claim that the president has sort of committed crimes of treason or bribery and that he is, you know, been allegedly accused of violating the Article 2 Section 4 of the Constitution.”

Perhaps the SDSU student would be well advised to learn a thing or two about another part of the Constitution … the First Amendment.

The irony that the school’s nickname is ”the Aztecs”, an ancient and proud nomadic tribe in northern Mexico, is rich.

America Under Siege From Within … Coo Coo Coo Coup!

December 18, 2017 By John DeProspo 4 Comments

Fox News, our very own state propaganda machine, finally went there.

They used the “c” word.

In an effort to delegitimize the ongoing investigation into the Kremlin’s meddling in our 2016 election, and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, Fox News has accused the FBI and special counsel Robert Mueller of a “coup” attempt against the Trump administration.

Here is part of Fox News’ Jesse Watters recent rant, filled with misleading statements, about the alleged coup d’état:

“So the investigation into Donald Trump’s campaign has been crooked from the jump,” Watters said. “But the scary part is we may now have proof the investigation was weaponized to destroy his presidency for partisan political purposes and to disenfranchise millions of American voters. Now, if that’s true, we have a coup on our hands in America.”

It’s possible that Jessie and his friends at Fox do not know the meaning of “coup” (a sudden decisive exercise of force in politics; especially : the violent overthrow or alteration of an existing government by a small group). Or they are purposely stirring up their base of brainwashed blockheads in anticipation of some very bad news about to come down the pike.

Either way, this sort of language is not only irresponsible, it is downright dangerous.

There, no doubt, are many gun-toting Fox viewers who could take this incendiary talk to heart and see it as a call to action.

Since morphing into Trump TV, Fox News is doing it’s very best to paint Trump as a victim, not as a president who may be guilty of obstructing justice … or treason.

It appears Fox has given up on calling the Mueller investigation a “hoax”; a “witchhunt”; a “fraud.” Now it’s a “coup.”

Rest assured, no matter what Trump’s propaganda outlet calls it, or what Trump may try to do (shut down the investigation), the truth will eventually come out.

But the potential for violence only increases with what Fox News is spewing on a daily basis.

For Some Alabamians, There Is Nothing More Disgusting Than Being A Democrat

November 18, 2017 By John DeProspo 2 Comments

In a recent survey, registered voters in Alabama’s Senate race found that 29% of those surveyed are more likely to vote for Republican Roy Moore after revelations he may be a sexual predator.

And now, the Republican Governor of Alabama, Kay Ivey, has announced that, even though she believes the young girls accusing Roy Moore of sexual molestation, she is going to vote for him anyway … because he is a fellow Republican.

“I’m going to cast my ballot on December the 12th, and I do believe the nominee of the party is the one I’ll vote for,” Ivey said. “I believe in the Republican Party, what we stand for, and most important, we need to have a Republican in the United States Senate to vote on things like the Supreme Court justices, other appointments the Senate has to confirm and make major decisions. So that’s what I plan to do, vote for Republican nominee Roy Moore.”

In an hilarious video that went viral a few days ago, a reporter is seen chasing a Republican down a winding staircase trying to ask him if he supports Roy Moore.

Tom Llamas of ABC News is seen repeatedly asking Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks if he believes Roy Moore over his accusers. Brooks repeats the same answer: “I believe that the Democrats will do great damage to our country on a myriad of issues.”

Brooks argued earlier this week that the conservative agenda outweighs the accusations.

“America faces huge challenges that are vastly more important than contested sexual allegations from four decades ago,” Brooks told AL.com in a text message.

So there you have it. Members of the political party that likes to sell itself as guardians of “family values” would rather vote for a known sexual creep over pulling the lever for a Democrat.

One could almost hear the arguments for supporting Jack the Ripper if he were running for office with an “R” after his name, “Yes, he may be a serial killer, but at least he is not a Democrat. He’s got my vote.”

Or how about Jeffery Dahmer? “Yes he may have an eating disorder but I will support a member of my party over a liberal, gun-hating, god-denying Democrat!”

Fortunately for the state of Alabama, and for sanity itself, Democrat Doug Jones is currently leading the serial pedophile Moore in the latest Fox News poll, 50% to 42%.
