Maybe Trump And The Kremlin Are Betting On The Wrong Horse?

February 24, 2020 By John DeProspo 1 Comment

We found out last week Russia is at it again … interfering in our upcoming elections. U.S. intelligence agencies not only warned that Russia is trying to get Trump reelected, they are also trying to swing the Democratic presidential nomination to Bernie Sanders.

For his part, Trump appears to agree with his Russian handlers. He seems to want to face off against Bernie, the democratic socialist, in November.

“Looks like Crazy Bernie is doing well in the Great State of Nevada. Biden & the rest look weak, & no way Mini Mike can restart his campaign after the worst debate performance in the history of Presidential Debates,” Trump tweeted last Saturday. “Congratulations Bernie, & don’t let them take it away from you!”

The thinking is simple. Once Bernie becomes the Democratic nominee, both Trump and Putin’s cyber-warfare machine will smear him as a dangerous socialist, a Marxist, a Castro sympathizer. Funny how all this election interference is being brought to you by the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics!

However, a close look at Sanders’ landslide victory in Nevada should give both Trump and Putin pause. Bernie won with an amazing across-the-board coalition … “men and women, whites and Latinos, voters 17-29, 30-44 and 45-65, those with college degrees and those without, liberal Democrats (by a lot) and moderate/conservatives (narrowly), union and non-union households.”

Yet the Democratic establishment is fearful of a Sanders candidacy. How could a socialist win the presidency, even against a complete horror show like Trump, they worry? But for all the concern over Bernie’s “radicalism,” are his signature policies such as a national healthcare program, a living wage, free public college education, and a serious green energy investment plan really that far out of the mainstream?

As Nathan Robinson of the Guardian writes, “It’s shocking that there is such opposition to such sensible plans. On what planet are these things so politically toxic that Democrats are afraid to run on them? Voters like these ideas, and so long as Democrats unify behind Bernie rather than continuing to try to tear him down, they will have a very good shot at defeating a radical and unhinged president like Donald Trump.”

I am certain Democrats will rally around whoever is their presidential nominee. But if it looks like the Democratic Party establishment is trying to tip the scales against a Sanders nomination, you can be sure of two things … a civil war within the Party, and another four years of Trump.

Don and Vlad, be careful what you wish for.

As Senate Trial Nears, Trump Set To Call Three Character Witnesses

January 14, 2020 By John DeProspo Leave a Comment

Reprint from moronmajority.com

We learned today from Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, that Trump’s impeachment trial may start as early as next Tuesday.

Word has it Donald Trump’s legal team is scrambling to prepare his defense. At the suggestion of Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, three character witnesses will be called by Trump’s legal team to vouch for his good reputation and moral character: Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-un and Recep Erdogan.

Putin, it is being reported, is prepared to say Trump is the model of honesty and probity. In the past, Putin has called Trump, “Greatest U.S.A. president.”

Trump’s love affair with the Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, is well documented. It is expected Kim will repeat his description of Trump as “a most wonderful, handsome and loving dear leader.”

Turkey president Erdogan is also a big fan of Donald Trump. He called Trump, “Allah’s gift to Turkey” after the impulsive commander-in-chief abandoned our allies, the Kurds, in Syria.

Yet some are already questioning the Giuliani-inspired tactic. They point out the three men are obviously beholden to Trump for various favors afforded them in the past. And, oh yes, they are all despots!

Nonetheless, the three strongmen are held in such high esteem by nearly all the Republican senators who will act as jurors at Trump’s impeachment trial that it seems well worth the effort, according to one of Trump’s most trusted advisors, son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Trump Wonders Why He Can’t “Eliminate” His Enemies With Impunity … Like His Pals

January 10, 2020 By John DeProspo 2 Comments

Reprint from moronmajority.com

Donald Trump has been getting an incredible amount of blowback over the killing of Iran’s top military general, Qasem Soleimani.  It’s not only his political opponents that have questioned Trump’s provocative action. Even members of his own party, namely Matt Gaetz and Mike Lee, have criticized Trump’s decision to potentially risk the start of another Middle East war.

“Why am I being treated like this,” Trump asked at a recent White House meeting. “It’s not fair. I eliminated a very bad man. I should be praised for doing this.”

A White House source said that Trump is baffled as to why he is not being respected like other strongmen who act decisively to take out their enemies. According to the source, Trump said, “At least I don’t target my political enemies, or family members, for that matter!”

The White House tipster revealed that when an administration official reminded Trump he is not a dictator, Trump angrily replied, “I’m the president of the United States and the Constitution lets me do whatever I want.”

Regrettably, but understandably, no one at the meeting had the temerity to disabuse Trump of that notion.

It is being reported that Trump has received some much welcomed support for his bold action against Iran from four of this favorite autocrats, Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-un, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Mohammed bin Salman. But instead of sending a letter, like Vladimir, Mohammed and Recep, Kim sent a beautiful card.

Top European Diplomats Fret Over Current Relationship With U.S.

February 18, 2019 By John DeProspo 3 Comments

Having sent his surrogate to this year’s Munich Security Conference, Mike Pence got a chilly reception from the attendees. And why not? Donald Trump has made it clear he cares more about our longstanding enemies than our longtime allies.

The New York Times recently quoted a senior German diplomatic official, who chose to remain anonymous, to show how bad U.S. relations have become with what once were our closest allies:

“No one any longer believes that Trump cares about the views or interests of the allies. It’s broken.”

Helping to get Trump into the White House cost the Kremlin a pretty ruble but look at the return on investment! A United States president that has given Putin what he’s wanted most…. a weakening of the NATO alliance; a pact that has kept Europe safe from the Soviet Union, and now a hostile and ambitious Russia, for decades.

No, Putin has gotten more than he could have ever imagined … even in his wildest, wettest dream.

Will Trump actually pull the United State out of NATO as he has threatened to do? What was once an absurd question doesn’t seen so crazy anymore.

Let’s hope our European allies can hang on long enough until we have a new, sensible, non-compromised president in the White House.

Trump’s Favorite Country Song? Tammy Wynette’s “Stand By Your Comrade”

August 11, 2017 By John DeProspo 2 Comments

Donald Trump thanked Vladimir Putin for expelling more than 700 U.S. diplomats from Russia in response to increased sanctions.

Just like with his own fervent supporters, Trump remains loyal to his hero. Putin could shoot a political opponent in the middle of Red Square and not lose our president’s support!

Trump Jr. Email Leak … Do Not Rule Out Putin

July 13, 2017 By John DeProspo 2 Comments

Two days ago, Donald Trump Jr. “voluntarily” tweeted out a bunch of incriminating emails that many are calling the “smoking gun” in the Trump-Russia election scandal. The president remarkably referred to this seeming self-immolation as “transparency” on his son’s part. The truth is the New York Times was just about to publish the emails so Junior wisely chose to get ahead of the story.

The real mystery in all this is how did the New York Times get its hands on the explosive emails? In other words, who leaked them?

The Times stated it leaned on five unnamed sources confirming the existence of the emails. At least two of those came from inside the White House.

So who dunnit?

There were only four principals involved in the email loop: Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort and Rob Goldstone. If it’s one of them, Jared Kushner is the most likely choice. Trump’s son-in-law has come under a lot of fire the past few months and by leaking the emails, he could point the finger at Junior as the mastermind who arranged the whole thing. You know, “I didn’t know what the meeting was about ahead of time; only there a few minutes,” etc.

Names such as Mike Pence, Cory Lewandowski and Steve Bannon have been thrown around as possible leakers. But how would they have gotten their hands on the emails?

The most likely scenario involves Vladimir Putin and his band of hackers.

If you believe those emails, in plain and highly incriminating language, were sent from Goldstone to Trump Jr. without the knowledge and consent of Putin himself, I have a bridge I’d like to sell you.

Putin most likely tried to use the emails as leverage against Trump in his attempt to have sanctions lifted against his country. When Putin did not get what he wanted from Trump at the G20 meeting, the emails found there way to the New York Times. Just look at the timing. Less than one week after Trump and Putin met in Hamburg. Hmm?

Realizing the political atmosphere will never allow for Trump to get the harsh U.S. sanctions lifted against his regime, why wouldn’t Putin just throw the nation he fears most into political chaos?

What Vladimir giveth Trump (the election), Vladimir can easily taketh away.
