Are We Headed Towards A Second Civil War?

March 17, 2019 By John DeProspo 6 Comments

Nancy Pelosi is against impeachment, saying, “Impeachment is so divisive to the country … I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country.”

Donald Trump recently said, in an interview with Brietbart, opponents of his administration are in deep trouble if they continue to oppose him. “I actually think that the people on the right are tougher, but they don’t play it tougher. Okay? I can tell you I have the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of the Bikers for Trump – I have the tough people, but they don’t play it tough — until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad.”

A few Trump supporters, such as Jim Bakker, Roger Stone and James Wood, have actually said there will be a second civil war in the United State of America if Trump is impeached!

In a very interesting and thought-provoking article in the DailyKos, a writer discounts the threat of a second civil war … arguing the first one never ended!

Socialjusticeamerican writes:

“I know that the Civil War OFFICIALLY ended in 1865, when Robert E Lee surrendered, however, that was mostly just a paperwork thing, for the official record.  We didn’t disarm the Southerners that killed American troops.  We didn’t have trials to convict, imprison and execute Southern troops that attacked American cities and killed citizens.  We didn’t treat them like an enemy army that had just been defeated.  We just let them all go back home, keep their weapons and we even allowed enemy soldiers to vote in our national elections.

And while the South CLAIMED to have surrendered, the surrender was a lie.  They never had any intention of laying down their arms.”

Julie Novkov, chairwoman of the political science department at the State University of New York at Albany, has said Trump’s supporters, whom she calls “overt racists” smoldering with “white racial resentment,” will “provoke violence” when he leaves office no matter the circumstances.

“I believe,” said Novkov, “that Trumpers — the core supporters Trump has bound to himself through his consistent and persistent messaging — will not accept as legitimate any means through which he departs from the presidency.”

And then you have a person who knows Trump very well, his former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, testify before Congress, “I fear that if he loses the election in 2020, that there will never be a peaceful transition of power. And this is why I agreed to appear before you today.”

If all this talk of violence sounds farfetched, consider this – Trump’s endless barrage of lies, his admiration for foreign dictators, his off-hand jokes about being “president for life” (Xi Xinping “was able to do that,” he told admirers. “I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll give that a shot some day.”), and his constant harping on a “deep state” plot against him.

Oh, did I mention a June 2018 report from the Small Arms Survey estimates American civilians own 393 million guns, both legally and otherwise, out of a worldwide total of 857 million firearms?

The prospect of things getting really ugly is real … no matter how Trump leaves office. These are indeed scary times.

Dems Set To Propose New National Holiday

December 15, 2018 By John DeProspo 2 Comments

Reprint from moronmajority.com

During a White House interview on Tuesday, Donald Trump said there would be hell to pay if he is impeached.

“I think that the people would revolt if that happened,” Trump told Reuters.

Asked about Trump’s comment, a senior House Democrat shared a different predication.

“The day Trump leaves office, whether by resignation, impeachment or an act of god, will be a day for rejoicing, not revolting,” said the congressman, who wished to remain anonymous.

The lawmaker revealed there is even talk among House Democrats that Trump’s last day in office should be celebrated as a national holiday.

“The end of our long national nightmare should be observed … forever,” said a spokesperson for the soon-to-be Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.

Of course the Republican-controlled Senate would never go along with such a proposal.

The idea, for now, will have to be put on ice until 2020 when Democrats retake the Oval Office, the Senate and increase their control of the House.

Is Trump Just Playing A Game Of Chicken With Republicans?

July 9, 2017 By John DeProspo 2 Comments

If one didn’t know any better, it would appear Donald Trump is doing all he can to be thrown out of office. Yet no matter how insane, embarrassing or dangerous his actions may be, congressional Republicans, who hold the power to remove him from the White House, are just sucking it up and supporting our narcissistic, lying and completely incompetent president.

After firing FBI Director James Comey, in the middle of his investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia to influence the 2016 presidential election, there was widespread talk of obstruction of justice. But to Republicans, it was the president just exercising his constitutional right to fire the director at will.

When Trump revealed highly sensitive information in a private White House meeting with two top Russian officials, he was not disclosing classified information to a foreign enemy. Republicans stuck to their taking point that, constitutionally, information is not classified if a president reveals it.

On a related note, let’s not forget when candidate Trump was caught on tape bragging about how his celebrity status gives him the power to force himself on women. What did Republicans say, even the pious ones? No, it was not sexual assault; it was just “boys being boys,” you know, “locker-room” talk.

Now we are faced with the scary aftermath of Trump’s “first” meeting with Russian strongman Vladimir Putin. It appears, despite the total consensus among U.S. intelligence agencies to the contrary, Trump has accepted Putin’s vehement denial that Russia tampered with our 2016 election. “Now is the time to move forward in working constructively with Russia,” Trump tweeted today.

Our country is attacked by a hostile foreign power and Republicans are for the most part mum?

At least a few Republicans criticized Trump’s ludicrous idea of partnering with Putin on a “Cyber Security Unit.”

“Putin and I discussed forming an impenetrable Cyber Security unit so that election hacking, and many other negative things, will be guarded,” Trump also tweeted today.

Marco Rubio and Lindsey Graham are having none of it. Rubio said in a tweet today, “Partnering with Putin on a ‘Cyber Security Unit’ is akin to partnering with Assad on a “Chemical Weapons Unit.” More apropos, it’s like devising a home security system with the guy that just broke into your house.

Is Trump just pushing the envelope, hoping for his removal from an office he is not prepared for and doesn’t particularly like?

Nah, Trump is just not that calculating or thoughtful!

How much more harm does Trump have to inflict on our country, intentionally or otherwise, before enough Republicans say, “enough is enough?”
